Note: 99% of all perfumes & perfume oils are made from synthetic raw materials,
some have natural raw materials add. Why do perfumers use synthetic materials?. Cost, synthetic raw materials offers an advantage in availability, the highest perfume, perfume oils, concentration which is directly linked to product cost. Other natural products are available, but only in limited quantities. A prime example is the pharmaceutical product taxol, which can be isolated only the from yew plant. If this particular molecule cannot be synthesized, it is unlikely that natural source can be harvested in sufficient quantities to treat cancer adequately. Limited availability in fragrance industry include botanical raw materials, particularly those that are isolated from exotic plant sources in remote regions. As insiders in perfume, perfume oil industry, indicate it may take as mush as 150 to 200 kilograms of dry plant material (Agarwood) to produce one kilogram of OOD. Since some of these plant sources come from exotic locations, harvesting and delivering the raw plant material can be very costly.

3.) The physical chemical characteristics hazardous components;
4.) The physical chemical health hazards signs symptoms of exposure and prior and/or existing contraindicating medical conditions;
5.)The primary routes of entry;
6.)Any know exposure limits (OSHA PELs or ACGIH TLVs)

9.) Control measures;
10.)The emergency first aid procedures; (for worker)
11.)The date of preparation; and
12.)The name, address, and telephone of the company or responsible EMPLOYEE distributing the MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET(MSDS).

OSHA has given special consideration to chemical information that the chemical manufacturer or chemical distributor considers to be a trade secret [29 CFR 1910. 1200(i)]. Chemical for which trade secret has been claimed must accompanied by a MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET(MSDS).

The chemical manufacturer must also specify on the MSDS that chemical's identity is a trade secret. In certain circumstances the user may need to know the chemical identity of the of the substance in order to THE HEALTH OF ITS WORKERS.

The OSHA procedures for obtaining this information are designed to balance the need-to-know for health protection with the economic value of maintaining trade secret.

If adequate health protection can be achieved only by knowledge of a chemical name, then procedures can be implemented to release the name.
In no case can the chemical manufacturer of distributor be forced to disclose a trade secret revealing the chemical process or the percentage composition of the product.

When the specific name of a chemical is desired for protection of worker health in a non-emergency circumstance, such as the desire to monitor the worker or the workplace for specific chemicals, the health officer must request in writing chemical name and the specific reasons as to why the information on the MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET(MSDS) is not sufficient.

Proof must be provided that the chemical identity is needed. Finally, a statement guaranteeing confidentiality is necessary but no penalty bond need be posted.

After receipt of this request, the chemical manufacturer has 30 days in which to reply.

If the manufacturer still wishes to claim confidentiality, it must prove that the chemical identity is indeed an important trade secret. If the parties cannot reach an agreement, OSHA will arbitrate.

If an emergency, the procedures for obtaining the chemical name are different than in non-emergency. A health office (e.g., a physician or industrial hygienist) for the employer may contact the chemical manufacturer and be told the name of specific chemical.

The chemical manufacturer may not withhold the information requested at the time of the emergency, although the manufacturer may request a follow-up written statement of need and a promise of confidentiality.

MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET(MSDS) are instructions   chemical manufacturers give for the safe use of RAW MATERIAL LIKE Alpha-hexyl cinnamaldehyde
or 3-Methyl-4-phenyl-3-butene-2-one to name a few in the Fragrance Materials industry.

Cosmetic counters at fines store like Macy's, Hecht's, 5th Ave. etc. They will sell you any amount of perfumes, perfume spray, perfume oil spray & perfume oils.
Do they present you a (MSDS) the answer is HELL NO! because perfumes, perfume oils are cosmetics NOT RAW CHEMICAL MATERIALS cosmetics are for use by general public.

NOTE: MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET(MSDS) are for chemical worker ONLY!!!! WHO HANDLE RAW MATERIALS, NOW GO BACK ASK THEM TO GIVE THE NAME OF THE CHEMICAL THEY CLAIM IS SAFE FOR PUBLIC USE..ASK THEM TO LIST THE CHEMICAL MATERIALS ON THEIR BOGUS MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET(MSDS) AND WHAT CHEMICAL LAB CERTIFIED IT SAFE FOR PUBLIC USE.., END OF STORIE.

Hazard Communication: This standard requires that manufacturers and importers of hazardous materials conduct a hazard evaluation of the products they manufacture or import. If the product is found to be hazardous under the terms of the standard, containers of the material must be appropriately labeled and the first shipment of the material to a new customer must be accompanied by a material safety data sheet (MSDS). Employers, using the MSDSs they receive, must train their employees to recognize and avoid the hazards the materials present.
